Production: Tester Shots

We decided to capture tester shots to make it easier on the day of filming and to help us decide what works and what doesn't connect to our genre. This gives us an idea on what shots to include in our final trailer. Looking at perspective, angles to different techniques in order to control the camera shake, focus etc and areas we need to work on and our areas of strength in certain shots.

Establishing Shot-
We definitely want to include a shot like this to show a key element on the farm and link to the genre of creating a Documentary as it looks realistic towards the audience. The clear shot is focused sharply and helps the audience understand a connection to the narrative from the connection of the animals representing the importance. The camera is stable with no camera shakes which i want to achieve in my final shots.

Extreme Close Up Shot-
We want to include an extreme close up of features such as a hay barrow which is stereotypical for a farming trailer and shows the audience detail and contrast which appeals to the audience. The shot is a tester of what we hope to include where the audience can instantly connect to the genre of the Trailer, Although this shot it shaky in areas it shows an idea on what we want to create in our final trailer and helps us think of different perspectives. In order to control camera shake we need to look at the way the tripod is adjusted to our shoulder and how to prevent it by perhaps more time management to ensure it doesn't occur in our final trailer.

Depth Of Field- Focus pull technique Shot-
We want to include a depth of field shot where the camera focus changes DOP by the focus pull effect. When achieving this shot we focused on the foreground and manually focused a larger depth of field in the background to lead the audience further into the shot. We want to create this technique in our final trailer, the tester shot helped us to understand and practise the technique to gain a good quality shot when filming. As the mushrooms are in a huge green house shelter the temperature is humid and the camera lens took a few minutes to adjust as it went steamy and unfocused. Experiencing this allows us to understand on the day of filming to be prepared to wait a few minutes to de-steam the lens for filming in order to gain the correct focus.

Worms Eye Shot-
We want to create a worms eye shot that links to the genre of Farming and wellies and mud symbolise a key element that links to a stereotypical farm for the audience to connect with. The shot is shaky however the focus is effective how it is unfocused closeup and then leads out to a sharp focus. We feel the audience can follow the focus to be involved and connected to the character. The shot has nice lighting from the sun reflecting off the puddle which creates a happy atmosphere and encourage the audience to watch the film. We want to create a shot like this where the audience can become more involved from a different perspective. We will prevent camera shake by ensuring the tripod is probely adjusted and on level ground to be more stable.
